Hilary Smith
Dip TESL, MA, PhD                         
      

Hilary Smith is a language and linguistics teacher, researcher, and writer. She has lived and worked in Tonga, Papua New Guinea, the Lao PDR, and currently has an ongoing project in Indonesia. She has also worked on short-term projects in Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Vanuatu, Kiribati, India, and Nepal. Her major areas of interest include:

  • English for speakers of other languages (ESOL)
  • language attitudes
  • language and education
  • migration and settlement
  • international development.

Stephen Haslett
BSc, BA(Hons), PhD, CStat, FSS       
                                    

Steve Haslett is a statistician with extensive international research experience across a range of disciplines and in a number of application areas. He has worked on short-term assignments in 21 countries in Asia and the Pacific. Much of his project work is carried out through his university, but this is not always possible and consequently a number of his projects have instead been carried out through Systemetrics.
